Lofaso3.0 out of 5 starsDoes the Job But Has Quirks in my ConfigurationFebruary 6, 2014Model: N600Verified PurchaseMy house is just large enough to need an access point in addition to my main router (ASUS RT66U). So setting this router up in access point mode does some strange things that I worked many hours one night to correct with no success. When you select ‘Enable Access Point Mode’ other fields such as the router’s IP address don’t work. In my case I’m stuck with the router assigning itself It’s been long enough that I don’t remember everything I tried, but having configured several routers in my days I finally concluded this was simply the only way it was going to work.I’ve never had much luck getting good speed over wireless-n but here’s a warning that’s written right into the specifications. Since the wired portion of the router is 10/100, your wireless-n will definitely be throttled down to something less than 100 Mb/s. My connection speed is generally 75 Mb/s so I’ve had no opportunity to test this out. However with the quirks in the firmware (and I only mentioned the one that bothered me the most), and the limitations, I think it’s a good little router for 95% of people. Well actually I can only attest to the Access Point part of this box so maybe regarding actual routing functions, take my review with 175 grains of salt.Read more 9 people found this helpful Helpful Comment Report abuseStefan4.0 out of 5 stars5GHz is weakOctober 23, 2015Model: N600Verified PurchaseSomeone else mentioned it, but it bears repeating — the 5GHz range is bad. I bought this because I live in a 2.4GHz saturated apartment complex. The 5GHz was supposed to solve that, however I barely get a signal one room away. As long as you have line of sight and are within a reasonable range (maybe ~20 feet?) it will do a good job.As a result, I have fallen back to 2.4GHz, which is actually performing better than my previous access point. The range for 2.4GHz is pretty weak as well, however I am okay with that as a smaller radius makes it more geographically restrictive for people to attempt to war drive — plus it covers my apartment decently.I mean I know 5GHz has trouble penetrating walls, but I didn’t know it was that bad.In summary, this access point is several orders of magnitude better than my last one, but not quite what I was hoping for. It was inexpensive and is getting the job done, so I gave it 4 stars.Read more Helpful Comment Report abuseLJ Wong5.0 out of 5 starsPleasantly Surprised!October 11, 2014Model: N600 with USBVerified PurchaseThis review is for the TEW-752DRU, dual band gigabit router with a usb port.Got this router when it was on sale for $35 back in July 2014, replacing the single-band router that I’d been using for 7 years. This is a fantastic router given the price range. At $35, getting a functional dual-band router with gigabit WAN/LAN ports and a usb port is a steal.Performance on the 2.4GHz is on par with the single-band router that I replaced. Simultaneous dual-band works fine. Have not used the usb port, so no comment on its functionality.*Setup:I did not use the cd or the router wizard to set up the router. The router comes pre-configured with SSID, pass code, and login info. All that can be changed after initial login-in to the 752DRU’s web interface. The router’s interface is simple and has most of the basic features available, including WPS and QOS.The setup process was easy enough that I was able to configure the router to match my previous router settings and be connected in 15 minutes. The only problem I had was that the router kept logging me out when I was making changes, and none of my settings were saved. I didn’t know what was going on until I realized that the router automatically does this! More on this later.*Speed/Throughput:Down/Up performance is about the same as the single-band router that I’ve replaced. Ethernet wired speed for both down/up is the same as the cable provider speed. Wireless on the 2.4GHz is much slower and gets about 1/3 of the wired speed for downstream, while the 5GHz is twice as fast and gets about 2/3 of the wired speed. The upstream speed remains the same for both wired and wireless.*Range/Signal Strength:The router is located in the living room on the first floor of a two-story, 2,000 sq ft house. The range on the 2.4GHz is good enough to cover the entire place, and the signal strength is excellent throughout. The 5GHz is much more limited, and the range is about half of the 2.4GHz. The signal is so weak in the upstairs corner rooms that the devices are unable to connect or stay connected to the 5GHz.*Stability:I’ve been using the router for about 3 months now, and it’s been surprisingly solid and steady with no lag whatsoever. Haven’t had to reset the router except for power outages.*Gripes:Another user commented on how the router logs out after a certain time. This is indeed very annoying! I have the latest firmware installed (09/2013), and it still logs you out after a few minutes. The router logs you out of the web-interface even if you’re in the middle of configuring settings! I understand if moments of inactivity prompt the router to log out your session for security reasons, but not when you’re actively making changes to the settings. I had to configure the router quickly and save my settings before the router logs out. Felt like a race every time. There is NO ‘Log Out’ button or feature anywhere in the interface. Therefore, closing the browser is the only way to log out securely. Doesn’t really matter anyway since the router logs out automatically after a few minutes. Way to complicate something as simple as logging out, Trendnet. However, this annoyance does not take away the overall performance and solid stability of 752DRU.For a medium-sized home, this router works amazing well. A great find!Read more 4 people found this helpful Helpful Comment Report abuseBrian Cowan1.0 out of 5 starsGet something else. Anything else.December 22, 2015Model: N600 with USBVerified PurchaseOver time becomes Infuriating. At best. The 5GHz connection is too weak to be of any use.If you live in an apartment where a neighbor’s AP is on a neighboring channel, this router handles interference VERY badly. If you use the guest wireless and you have a busy guest-network client, it is almost as if the router is interfering with ITSELF.Today, my wife told me that the wifi was acting up (again). I used a second AP that uses this as the upstream connection to the internet, and got 17-20Mbps downloads. I connected to this thing’s Wifi, and — when it worked, which it didn’t the first couple of tries — I got less than 2 Mbps. Which started be down the road to my last 2 statements. My HP printer will drop offline every couple of days, while thinking that it is still online. I have to power cycle the HP printer to connect. When I connected via a direct wired connection, the DHCP connection would time out. Every. Single. Time.If you care about security at all, the USB drive sharing capability is a joke. It’s wide open so anyone can see anything on the drive, and there is no way to configure access. no interface at all.Luckily I didn’t toss the old AP’s I was using… And the only reason this thing is still attached it because the wired network functions don’t (currently) stink.Read more Helpful Comment Report abuseSee all 63 reviewsWrite a customer review Set up an Amazon Giveaway Amazon Giveaway allows you to run promotional giveaways in order to create buzz, reward your audience, and attract new followers and customers.
